You search by name and get back results with booking photos, charges, offense details, and the agency that made the arrest. The tool is free and available to anyone with a web browser.

The viewer covers all bookings at the facility, regardless of which police department made the arrest.

The second tool is the Inmate Lookup page on the Kent County government website. This provides a similar search but through the county's main portal. Both tools pull from the same booking database, so the results should match. The screenshot below shows this lookup page.

State Databases for Kent County

For criminal history beyond current jail bookings, Michigan runs two state-level databases. ICHAT from the Michigan State Police costs $10 per search and shows felony and serious misdemeanor convictions from all 83 counties. If someone was convicted of a crime in Kent County, it will likely show up in ICHAT. The system does not cover arrests without convictions, traffic violations, or juvenile records.

The OTIS database from the Department of Corrections is free. It tracks current prisoners, parolees, and probationers. You can search by name and get photos, offense info, and estimated release dates. OTIS keeps records for three years after supervision ends. For sex offender data, the Public Sex Offender Registry lets you search by name or location for free.

Kent County Court Records

Kent County has a busy court system. The 17th Judicial Circuit Court handles felonies. The 61st District Court in Grand Rapids and the 63rd District Court in other parts of the county cover misdemeanors and arraignments. All of these courts feed case data into the Michigan Courts case search tool.

Court records are public under Michigan Court Rule 8.119. You can search by name or case number to see charges, hearing dates, and case outcomes. This tells you what happened after the arrest. Did the person plead guilty? Were charges dropped? What was the sentence? The court record answers those questions. For certified copies, contact the Kent County Clerk's office directly.
